In the middle ages, this was a temple that oversaw the entire Rokugo Manzan as Soyama. If you read the history book of Rokugo Manzan, the Choan Temple was used to pray for many important events, such as against the attack of the Mongolian army, epidemics, etc. Such a tradition has been left behind. It is said that the auditorium where the Shujooni-e ritual was held once was located on the plain just under Rokkashi Shrine. It is one of the temples that has a close connection with Shito and Buddhism, a characteristic of "Kunisaki".
