According to legend, this temple is one of the Rokugo Manzan Temples that was opened by Ninmon in 718. Shujooni-e rituals are held every January 5th of the lunar calendar every other year with Iwatoji Temple. There is a statue of Nioh who has the inscription of Tenpo 2 (1831) on the pathway leading to Jobutsuji Temple, and the main hall that becomes the stage of Shujooni-e rituals can be reached after passing the gate. The main hall houses Fudomyooh together with Kongaradoji and Seitakadoji, and on the left side of the main hall, you can find the Aizen Hall to worship Aizenmyooh. If you climb the stone stairways, you can reach the Okunoin that enshrines the Amitabha Nyorai.
