You will enter the shrine area once you take a step from the torii gate. In the space inside the shrine, there are buildings with the thatched roof of the Edo Period. In the middle ages, the Kumano settlement was established as a settlement for the monks of Taizo Temple, now is known as Kumanoyama. There is a legend saying the Buddhist priests who carved Kumano Magaibutsu lived in a place known as the Village of the Masons in Kunisaki Peninsula. It is said that there was a blacksmith in the Kumano settlement, and tools for making Buddha statues were made.
