Legend says that this place was built in Yoro 2 (718) as the tomb of Ninmon. It seems that this temple once oversaw the 28 temples of Rokugo Manzan in the Edo Period. Also, it seems that it had many monks, and was a place of worship for many influential people, such as the heads of the Kitsuki Clan. Even now, when you cross the Mumyo Bridge, you can find the stone statue of Nioh that is thought to be made in the Edo Period.
