The ritual is basically held every January 5th of the lunar calendar at Jobutsuji and Iwatoji Temples every other year each. On that day, a 6-meter Great Torch is provided at the main hall, and the three oni of the Jobutsuji Temple, Araoni, Shizumeoni, and Saibaraioni are shown. Araioni blesses the worshipers with a lighted torch and goes around praying for the safety of homes and driving away illnesses in the settlement. At that time, each house offers sake and treats, and honor the oni.
